Description

Simple and crusty mini baguettes, perfect for any meal or casual dining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine flour and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Gradually add the yeast mixture to the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into small portions. Shape each portion into a baguette.
  8. Place the shaped baguettes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Score the tops of the baguettes with a sharp knife.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
  11. Let cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For a shinier, crackly crust, pour hot water into a preheated baking sheet before baking. Ensure to cool completely on a wire rack to maintain crustiness.
