Description

Fudgy banana brownies that combine the flavors of banana bread and chocolate brownies, perfect for using overripe bananas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium Ripe Bananas
  • 1/2 cup Melted Butter
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F, and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. Mash the 3 ripe bananas in a medium bowl until mostly smooth, a few small lumps are fine.
  3. Whisk in 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup brown sugar until glossy.
  4. Add the 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  5. Sift together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon into a separate bowl.
  6. Fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture in two additions, stirring just until no streaks of flour remain; do not overmix.
  7. Stir in 1/4 cup milk to loosen the batter slightly, then fold in 1 cup chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top.
  9. Melt the extra 2 tablespoons butter and brush it lightly over the surface for a shiny, slightly crisper top.
  10. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes, start checking at 25 minutes; you want a toothpick with a few moist crumbs, not completely dry.
  11. Cool in the pan on a rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing to help the brownies hold together.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for maximum sweetness and moisture. Brush with melted butter on top for a shiny finish. Cool before slicing for best texture.
