- 1 pound cipollini onions
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder in a bowl.
- Dip the cipollini onions in the buttermilk, then dredge them in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Carefully place the coated onions in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, do not crowd the pot while frying. Let the oil return to temperature between batches.
