- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 2 tablespoons brewed coffee
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, beat together softened butter and egg until light and fluffy. Add brewed coffee, buttermilk, and vanilla, mixing well. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the caramel, combine brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a saucepan. Stir constantly over medium heat until simmering; let simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and salt, set aside.
Notes
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. For a gourmet touch, sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
